Where to Eat, Drink, and Explore in Islington
As the year winds down and Angel settles into its colder months, the neighbourhood feels at its best. Streets are busy without being frantic, weekends fill with shoppers and catch-ups, and there’s always somewhere worth stopping for food or a drink.
We’ve been part of this corner of Islington since day one, and if you’re planning a visit to Noci, here’s how to make a day of it. A simple guide to eating well, wandering around, and ending your day with fresh pasta.
Start Your Day the Right Way
Begin with a coffee.Fantail, just off Upper Street, keeps things straightforward: well-made coffee and a chocolate chip cookie that’s earned its reputation.
If tea’s more your pace, slip into Katsute100. Their matcha, mochi, and crêpe cake are an easy way to ease into a winter morning.
Midday Bites and Local Favourites
A few minutes from Islington Green, you’ll reach our first Noci. Drop in for fresh pasta, seasonal spritzes, and the kind of lunch that sets you up for the rest of the day.
Weekday lunch? From 12–5:30pm, our pasta, focaccia, and drink set is £18.50, ideal if you’re between meetings or taking a slower afternoon.
If you’re after something smaller, Superette offers cheeses, charcuterie, and a glass of wine, or head to Pophams, their bacon & maple swirl rarely lasts past midday.
Time for a Wander
Once you’re fed, explore a little. Angel Central has the familiar stops, while Camden Passage offers vintage finds, small independents, and its well-known antiques market.
If design’s your thing, twentytwentyone, is always worth a look.
Evening Plans, Sorted
As the day gets darker, Angel stays lively. Screen on the Green, is a reliable pick for a film, complete with armchairs and a drink in hand.
If you’re in the mood for something upbeat, The Bill Murray Comedy Club keeps its calendar full.
You might also hear Tom McQ playing along Upper Street, a small moment, but one locals know well.
One Last Stop?
Still around after dinner? Come by Noci for a final bowl, dessert, or a spritz before heading home.
